NORTH WEST: THE REGIONAL OPPORTUNITY

An in-depth look at the Northwest's Industrial and Logistics property market highlighting issues that have affected the region for the past 15 years - such as the lack of land for new development. With the new Labour Government’s push to release ‘grey land’ in the greenbelt for housing will this put the two sectors at loggerheads and can homes be sustained without jobs? Will the Freeport bring as many opportunities as they think?

This session will comprise a presentation followed by a panel discussion featuring the top regional property and development companies.

WAREHOUSE PROPERTY: THE ENERGY ISSUE

Kevin Mofid (Head of EMEA Industrial and Logistics, Savills)

Electrification is a key issue in the warehouse, as facilities increase their energy draw as automation grows and electric MHE becomes more popular. Yet most areas of the economy face the same challenge. Some say warehouses have a solution on their doorstep with vast roof space to deploy solar, but there are many limitations standing in the way of broad roll out, as the National Grid and DNOs struggle to modernise at pace.

Property developers say they cannot develop without power and sites seeking allocation are being told to wait for up to five years! This is a huge drag on the sector. The rise in data centres with their huge power demands is piling on even more pressure. This session will get to the bottom of this vital issue.

Speakers will include top 3PLs, property analysts such as Savills Head of EMEA Industrial and Logistics Kevin Mofid, developers and industry experts.

This session will disucss the many ways occupiers can mitigate the risks.

The discussion will feature developers, investors and experts including Alison Phillips, Head of Fire Safety Risk Management at Ocado.
